Victory at Little Lakes!

In a major victory for community-led environmental protection, the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) has ordered V.B. Sand & Gravel Ltd. to conduct mandatory air quality monitoring at the proposed Little Lakes Pit in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW) Township, near Goderich, Ontario.
The Tribunal also ordered a 30-metre habitat buffer for an endangered Wood Turtle habitat, finding that failing to address its natural heritage function would be a “travesty.”

Small Change Fund acts as a catalyst for individuals and grassroots organizations to improve the environment, reduce poverty, and promote reconciliation efforts by working with Indigenous Peoples to support the protection of their lands, waters and communities. We stand with those on the ground, recognizing that the people closest to the challenges are often the ones with the knowledge and solutions to create lasting change.

I’m so grateful for Small Change Fund supporting our documentary, Plastic People: The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics, so we could expose the microplastics in our bodies and work on reducing plastic pollution globally. This affects literally everyone, and Small Change Fund is helping us reach them. Their support was crucial.
