They want to pave paradise!
All over Kingston – one of 15 cities in Canada predicted to become a heat island – our cooling, carbon-storing trees are being destroyed. We have identified more than 20 past or proposed clearcuts in the city – mainly to build unaffordable homes. Developers are paving over our forests – and even want to pave over our wetlands – with little thought to the increasing climate crisis, the biodiversity crisis, neighbourhood rights, and the local Indigenous population.
Help us save our urban forests and wetlands – donate today!

Story
Before….and Now.
Our forests and wetlands need your help!
As the climate crisis is devastating our planet, the future of Kingston’s nearest downtown forest and wetland is going before the Ontario Land Tribunal. Our previous City Council voted against the plan but a developer is still trying to push through the clearcutting of 37 acres – 1800 trees – beside a sacred burial ground for the Indigenous people of the area. This clearcutting would include a 220-year-old white oak tree (shown below), also sacred to the local Indigenous community.
You can help us defend City Council’s decision to stop this disastrous plan at the Tribunal. We need to hire expert witnesses such as hydrogeologists, wetland biologists, and ecotoxicologists to present our case against a very wealthy developer. This will cost thousands of dollars, but the fight is worth it!
Please help us prevent forest and wetland destruction.
Every donation counts!
