New Project: Youth Transit Project
JANUARY 28, 2022 – Sometimes a bus pass isn’t just a bus pass, but a passport to change. The City of Kingston piloted an award-winning initiative to transform public transit. The key to their success? Providing youth with no cost passes and teaching them how to use the transit system.
By providing high school students with free local bus access, the program supports social equity, improves student quality of life and increases access to extracurricular activities and learning opportunities. It also decreases greenhouse gas emissions, improves air quality and reduces traffic congestion.
We want to replicate the “Kingston Model”, and the associated benefits, across Canada by engaging the key leaders who transformed public transit in Kingston. To learn more about the Youth Transit Project and show your support, visit the project page.
