Halton Council Votes to Save 5,000 Acres of Farmland

FEBRUARY 17, 2022 – Yesterday, Halton Regional Council voted 15-9 to save 5,000 acres of farmland in the Halton region. The motion calls for zero urban boundary expansion through 2041.

More than 50 delegates spoke at the 8 hour meeting – every single one in favour of the no urban boundary expansion motion. Several more submitted written delegations and more than a thousand residents sent letters in support to their councillors.

From the start, this campaign has exemplified our mission of Small Change. In the first month, we had the highest ever number of donors – the most commonly donated amount just $25. Since then, we have raised more than $33,000 to protect Halton’s farmland.
