Volunteer Spotlight: Bob Dyment
APRIL 21, 2023 – Last summer, Small Change Fund’s president, Burkhard Mausberg, met Bob Dyment and was immediately inspired. Bob has collected information on the turtles nesting along the South Muskoka River bank for more than a decade. During turtle nesting season, Bob is often up until 1:00am finding turtle nests and making sure they are protected from predators. Bob’s efforts have saved hundreds of hatchlings, including endangered Blanding’s Turtles. Bob also supplies his invaluable records to the Natural Heritage Information Centre, which distributes this data to the provincial environment ministry for their endangered species program. Thank you Bob for your hours of work protecting Ontario’s turtles!
