New Projects: Stop Sprawl York Region and Stop Sprawl in Peel Region

MARCH 23, 2022 –Urban sprawl continues to threaten farmland and nature in Ontario and we continue to fight it.

In York Region, we are advocating for better growth that supports existing communities, is affordable for residents and protects the Greenbelt, farmland and Lake Simcoe. Complete, sustainable communities will reduce traffic congestion, encourage walking and contribute to climate protection. You can learn more at Stop Sprawl York Region and donate to our project here.

Likewise, we are fighting an Urban Boundary expansion in Peel Region. Regional Council meets April 7th, 2022 to discuss intensification targets and the Urban Boundary Expansion plan through to 2051. Analysis has shown that the current boundary can accommodate the projected growth for the region and that paving over farmland is unnecessary.
