New project: Educating Farmers in BC about the value of donating land for future generations

OCTOBER 29, 2021 – Want to hear something scary? Developers are paving over Canadian farmland at record rates to make room for urban sprawl. Unfortunately, many aging farmers are without successors to their legacy, and young people who wish to farm are deterred from pursuing agriculture due to high land costs. 

To help, we’re partnering with Foodlands Cooperative of BC to support farmers who wish to place their land in trust, keep it in production and protect it from future development. While this is certainly an uphill battle, it is an important issue at the intersection of environmental protection, food security and equity.
