Kicking asphalt and taking names!
OCTOBER 11, 2021 – Puzzled, or perhaps amused, by Saskatchewanians for Sidewalk Sustenance and their scandalous sidewalk tax? Last week we launched a satirical campaign against Saskatchewan’s new tax on electric vehicles (EVs), the only such tax in the country. Our campaign is pushing to delay the tax until 1.3% of light use vehicles in Saskatchewan are EVs. At a time when Canada needs to commit to urgent climate action, taxing electric vehicles makes about as much sense as, well, taxing sidewalks. You can show your support by following our campaign on Facebook, Twitter and website, as well as donating to our campaign.
If you’re in Saskatchewan, look for our radio and billboard ads and send a prepared letter through our website to your representatives. If you’re a Saskatchewanian with an EV, you can apply to get your tax back. That’s right: our campaign is “refunding” you your EV Tax, or giving you the opportunity to donate it to a Saskatchewan charity.
We’re letting the Saskatchewan government know that since they won’t do the right thing, we will.
