Supporting Federal Environmental Assessment Requests for Ontario’s Proposed 400-series Highways

The proposed Highway 413 in Ontario presents multiple negative environmental, social and health impacts – such as increased traffic congestion, increased greenhouse gas emissions, devastation of wetlands and areas of the Greenbelt and accelerated urban sprawl. With help from the Public Voice Fund, Environmental Defence was able to secure a federal environmental assessment for the proposed Highway 413. What does this mean? The potential impacts of the proposed Highway 413 will now be reviewed by the federal government in a more significant manner.
