On July 7 we were pleased to recognize Arlene Slocombe’s 20 years of leadership in water advocacy with the Brigid’s Reflection Award. The award provides Arlene with a six-month sabbatical to reflect on her years of experience as a leader in the movement to protect water and to share her learnings with others.
Arlene co-founded Water Watchers and has served as Executive Director since 2009. During that time, she made an incalculable difference to both the organization and water stewardship in Wellington County, ON and beyond. The award was presented at a gathering in Guelph, attended by many supporters.

Small Change Fund was inspired to create the Brigid’s Reflection Award as we recognize that leaders like Arlene absorb learnings that are vital to pass on to others in the movement. Mike Balkwill, our Vice President of Campaigns and a former colleague of Arlene’s, sums it up beautifully: “Just as water reflects to us all that is around it, we can benefit from the reflections of those who work hard, over many years, in the service of honouring and protecting water.”
Small Change Fund partners with Water Watchers on Safeguarding Our Health and Great Lakes and Water for Life.
