Short Story
For today’s youth, the climate crisis is the fight of their lifetime with impacts already being felt, especially in marginalized communities. Yet, youth voices are being excluded from important climate justice-related conversations that will influence the world they inherit. Due to the lack of funding and support youth-led climate justice initiatives receive, it is difficult for young people to access safe, accessible, and enriching spaces where they can advocate for intersectional justice priorities. Our youth-led project will empower young advocates by providing access to climate justice campaigns, coalitions and community-based initiatives, centering their voices to advance intersectional justice and ensure the inclusion of underserved groups.

Shake Up Your Community (SUYC): Support Youth-Led Climate Justice Campaigns
Story
Every year, young people rise up, demanding accountability and real change in the fight for climate justice. Our project is dedicated to empowering youth to lead impactful initiatives.
We are seeking long-term ethical funding to sustain and expand our programming that creates both paid and volunteer opportunities for equity-deserving youth to participate in campaigning for climate justice. You can help us make a difference—please donate today to support meaningful leadership opportunities for young leaders!
Our project engages young leaders in hands-on activities and campaigns that educate communities about environmental protection. For example, in 2023, we hosted a successful event with over 100 changemakers, raising awareness about the Sue Big Oil campaign and the need to hold fossil fuel companies accountable. Additionally, our youth leaders advocated for the inclusion of the ‘Youth Climate Corps’ program in the 2024 federal budget through targeted campaigns and petitions in BC and Ontario, supporting the creation of thousands of good, green jobs for youth across the country.
By using intersectional, evidence-informed and community-centred strategies, youth will advocate for climate action plans that reduce emissions, promote renewable energy, and support marginalized communities. Many youth from diverse backgrounds lack opportunities to engage in climate justice work, limiting their ability to voice their perspectives. This project empowers them to participate in collaborative decision-making spaces, ensuring their voices are included in climate justice campaigns and coalitions while promoting meaningful responses to calls to action within their communities.
Together, we can support youth-led climate justice and turn our shared dreams of equitable, climate-resilient futures into reality. Donate today and be part of the change!
