September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – a day to acknowledge the historic and ongoing impacts of Canada’s residential school system and to honour communities, families and survivors. It is also a day to reflect on our responsibilities and relationships, as well as ongoing movements for justice, land back and self-determination.
A decade after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its Calls to Action, many of these calls remain unanswered. Small Change Fund is committed to showing up and working towards answering the Calls to Action, as well as listening, (un)learning and supporting Indigenous-led, land-based work.
We are honoured to work in community with Indigenous leaders, communities and organizations who are advancing critical work in land protection, water stewardship, food sovereignty and cultural revitalization. We invite you to learn about and support Indigenous-led work and walk alongside Indigenous communities in the spirit of respect, relationship and reciprocity.
