For today’s youth, the climate crisis is the defining challenge of their lifetime, yet their voices are often excluded from climate justice conversations. Our project empowers youth with opportunities to lead community and arts-based climate justice campaigns. Join us in our changemaking! Every donation helps amplify youth voices and increase access to meaningful climate action.

Every year, young people rise up, demanding accountability and real change in the fight for climate justice. Shake Up Your Community is dedicated to empowering youth to lead impactful initiatives.

We are seeking long-term ethical funding to provide microgrants and increase opportunities for equity-deserving youth to participate in climate justice campaigns, arts-based interventions and communications in their community. You can help us make a difference – please donate today to support meaningful leadership opportunities for young changemakers!

Our project focuses on supporting young leaders through on-the-ground work and arts-based climate action campaigns that educate communities about environmental justice. We provide funding to assist youth in participating in professional development opportunities in this sector and enhance their intersectional activism. In 2024, for example, our youth leaders attended the first-ever National Environmental Justice Symposium and the UBC Communicating Climate Hope Conference, where they presented and facilitated workshops on the importance of improving Canadian environmental health policies and practicies, with a focus on enhancing outcomes for minoritized, marginalized, and underserved populations. They also shared our Rest, Recovery, Resistance (3RS) framework, which centers on promoting sustainable, arts-based community organizing practicies as a means of investing in long-term climate resiliency. These opportunities provided youth with access to a collaborative space where they could connect with diverse peers, share their expertise, and learn about solutions for building community resilience, restoration and conservation.

With your support, we can strengthen our ability to promote action and mobilization by helping youth leaders engage in opportunities and learn about evidence-informed, community-centered and arts-based strategies. Many young people from diverse backgrounds lack opportunities to engage in climate justice work, limiting their ability to voice their perspectives. This project empowers them to participate in collaborative decision-making spaces, ensuring their voices are included in climate justice campaigns and coalitions while promoting meaningful responses to calls to action within their communities.

Together, we can support youth-led climate justice and turn our shared dreams of equitable, climate-resilient futures into reality. Donate today and be part of the change!
