Small Change Fund has partnered with Save the Oak Ridges Moraine (STORM) Coalition to protect the long-term ecological and hydrological health of the ORM. Since it’s formation in 1989, STORM Coalition has been dedicated to protecting the water, woodlands, and wildlife of the Oak Ridges Moraine (ORM). They were instrumental in the creation of the Oak Ridge Moraine Conservation Plan, and continue to protect the ORM and its adjacent Greenbelt lands by advocating for sustainable land use planning.
We believe that the health and stability of the GTA and its 7.3 million residents are entwined with the health of the ORM—providing the water we drink, driving our agricultural sectors, and now, more than ever, mitigating the worst effects of climate change.
The Oak Ridges Moraine is not just a landform but a dynamic lifeform—a living network that sustains biodiversity, filters drinking water, and supports the resilience of our communities.
Your contribution supports our continued fight to Save the ORM as we work to deliver a core set of services:
Policy Advocacy & Legal Action: We monitor and challenge policy changes that weaken environmental protections on the ORM and oppose land use changes that pose the greatest threats.
Community and Grassroots Mobilization: We work collaboratively with citizens and partner organizations to uphold the policy meant to protect the ORM and adjacent Greenbelt lands.
Education and Outreach: We leverage our expertise in hydrology, land use planning, and ecology to illuminate the importance of the ORM to the social, economic, and environmental health of the GTA.
Together we can forward complete communities that enhance the hydrological and ecological integrity of the ORM.
