The Healing Justice Care Network (HJCN) supports the mental health needs of communities and movements on the frontlines of the fight for climate and environmental justice across Canada. This care network aims to keep environmental movements and impacted communities strong and resilient, able to keep standing up for a livable planet.

Through the Healing Justice Care Network (HJCN), organizers, activists and land defenders facing burnout and exhaustion from their work standing up for climate justice sign up for no-cost counselling sessions. They choose from a list of experienced mental health practitioners skilled in anti-racist and decolonial approaches to care. We fundraise so that HJCN practitioners are paid a fair rate for their services.

Taking care of activists and organizers means they can keep protecting communities,  lands, waters, and the climate. This kind of support is crucial for building movements strong enough to transform systems away from extraction and exploitation and towards care and reciprocity. Climate activists are working hard and we need to make sure they are well supported.

Strong, resilient, long term movements for climate justice benefits us all. And so we must take good care of those willing to be on the frontlines. To keep our movements for climate justice and for Indigenous rights strong – especially as new industry and political threats are emerging! – we need to be actively taking care of ourselves and each other.

Support the mental health of climate activists and land defenders today!
