Trees Cut Down in Small’s Creek Despite Council Motion
FEBRUARY 18, 2022 – In spite of the unanimous council motion earlier this month, last week Metrolinx began construction in Small’s Creek ravine with devastating impact. Hundreds of trees have been cut down so far, including century old oaks.
While this is a brutal blow for the ecosystem and those fighting to protect it, the battle is not yet over. The focus must now be on ensuring that a robust restoration plan is created and implemented. Our partners, Friends of Small’s Creek, have written an open letter to the CEO of Metrolinx detailing their concerns and potential solutions.
